The Information and Referral Center of Greater Montréal has received a grant from the Secretariat Responsible for Relations with English-Speaking Quebecers (Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québécois.es d’expression anglaise (SRQEA) to promote its services to anglophone communities

Montréal, September 7, 2023 – The Information and Referral Center of Greater Montréal has received a grant of 400 000$ over two years from the Secretariat Responsible for Relations with English-Speaking Quebecers (Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québécois.es d’expression anglaise (SRQEA) to promote its services to anglophone communities, including 211 Greater Montréal and its addiction helplines, Drugs: Help and Referral and Gambling: Help and Referral.

The funds will be divided into three main categories:

  • Increasing awareness of our services to anglophone communities with promotional campaigns via targeted media, translation of promotional materials and online information content.
  • Developing partnerships with community organizations that help anglophone communities so that we may collaborate and ensure proper referrals to those services and they to us.
  • Training for our counselors to improve their use of professional English and ensuring optimal services to anglophone people in vulnerable situations.

About the Information and Referral Center of Greater Montréal – Founded in 1956, the Information and Referral Center of Greater Montréal (IRCGM)’s mission is helping through information. IRCGM manages an information and referral helpline towards socio-community services in Greater Montréal which became 211 Greater Montréal in 2018 as well as Drugs: Help and Referral since 1992, Gambling: Help and Referral since 1993 and TeleCounseling for Excessive Gambling since 2012.
